A BRIEF HISTORY

OF CIRCLES

Dir. Georgia Kumari Bradburn

UK 2024, 11 mins

A Brief History of Circles explores the autistic experience through sensory encounters with objects and hyper-fixations. Originally devised as an undergraduate thesis, this experimental essay film uses the subject of the circle to illustrate both intellectual and sensory fascination with things that loop, circulate and repeat, proposing the idea of a cinema that can stim (exhibit self-stimulative behaviours such as rocking and hand-flapping, often a trait of autstic people as a way to regulate energy).

The film premiered at the Barbican Centre in February 2024 as part of the Stims: Toward a Neurodiverse Cinema programme. It has since screened at the Volksbüehne in Berlin and various venues in the UK.

I am currently seeking exhibition opportunities for this piece. For any offers or a private link to the film, please send me an email.
